Pre-cooked corn flour offers consumers a convenient solution for instant fast food. Steamed and cooked corn flour is particularly popular in South America.

Main Technical Parameter

• Input capacity: 2–3 tons per hour of maize

Working Process

1. Cleaning and stone removal – Removes impurities such as straw, grass, and stones from the corn.

2. Water conditioning – Prepares the corn for better peeling by adjusting moisture content.

3. Peeling and polishing – Removes the corn skin and germ, producing clean corn kernels.

4. Steaming – Steam-cooks the pre-cooked corn kernels.

5. Rolling into flakes – Flakes the steamed kernels to improve drying efficiency.

6. Drying – Dries the corn flakes thoroughly.

7. Grinding and sifting – Corn flakes are ground into powder, and the qualified powder passes through screening equipment.

8. Packaging – Qualified powder is stored in a bin, then discharged via a vibrating unloader to an automatic packing scale, which quantitatively packages finished products in 5–25 kg bags.

Main Equipment and Functions

• Mixing powder machine – Different models are used depending on the production line configuration.

• Feeder – A motor-driven screw conveyor ensures quick and easy loading.

• Extruder – Various TSE extruder models are available based on the production line. Output ranges from 100 kg/h to 600 kg/h. Raw materials such as corn flour, wheat flour, and rice flour can be used to produce expanded particles.

• Hoist – Conveys pellets to the oven. Hoist height is determined by the oven dimensions. Air blasters are also available.

• Multi-layer oven – Mostly electric, with temperature adjustable from 0–200°C via a control cabinet. Features an internal stainless steel double mesh belt. Baking time can be adjusted by speed. Available in three, five, or seven layers.

• Crusher – Different crushers are selected according to the required fineness of the nutritional powder.

Applications of Food-Grade Puffed Corn Flour

Expanded corn flour can be widely used in food products, health foods, dairy products, brewing, convenience foods, snacks, baked goods, nutritious breakfasts, nutritional powder, baby food, seasoning foods, solid beverages, cakes, pastries, biscuits, and pasta.

Installation Terms

Installation and commissioning are chargeable services. They include technical guidance for installation, commissioning, operation, and training of local workers.

The customer is responsible for:

• Visa arrangements for installation personnel

• Round-trip air tickets

• Local accommodation and transportation

• Medical insurance and related costs

Two installation engineers are required for on-site installation. The normal installation and commissioning period is 3 months, which may vary depending on local conditions. Each engineer’s daily salary is USD 100, payable by the customer.

Other Requirements

1. Local staffing – Each shift requires 1–2 technicians and 2–4 workers for packing and material handling.

2. Customer responsibilities – The customer shall provide necessary lifting equipment, common tools, water supply, and electrical power (420 kW transformer).

3. Supplier responsibilities – The supplier is responsible for plant layout design, main workshop building design, installation guidance, commissioning, local worker training, and construction supervision for the main workshop line. The customer shall carry out civil engineering according to the supplier’s design specifications, and complete installation and commissioning under the guidance of the supplier’s experts, while providing necessary facilities and assistance.
